        I create art by following urges from somewhere beyond me.

"I often wait and watch my canvas, listening for where to put my next stroke of paint.

I layer and burry parts of my work that are forced into the canvas by my hubris- as if I knew what was best for the painting.

I continue adjusting color, lines, and value until the canvas tells me its done. 

I rarely think of what I want to paint before I begin, because it always turns out better when I follow my gut. 

I love never knowing where I'm going until the end emerges.

I begin with colors that I'm drawn to and discover the movement buried within the first layer of paint like an archaeologist discovering fossils. 

I believe whatever shows up on my canvas comes from a place beyond me."

That is why I paint- to connect with an energy more truthful than one I could ever discover through logic.
